about us
At BC Auto Appraisals, we aim to assist our Abbotsford customers in optimizing their vehicle-related tax expenses. Commencing from October 1st, 2022, residents of British Columbia who engage in private transactions involving Pre-Owned Vehicles are required to remit Transfer Tax. This tax is determined exclusively by the Average Canadian Black Book Wholesale Value, which is calculated based solely on the vehicle’s Year, Make, and Model.
It’s essential to note that this valuation method does not take into consideration various critical factors, including the physical condition of the vehicle, its mechanical status, mileage, maintenance history, accident record, or other variables that can significantly impact the vehicle’s actual value. In cases where your vehicle ranks below the average standard in any of these aspects, rest assured that our team of Licensed Appraisal Experts is ready to conduct a comprehensive Professional Vehicle Appraisal.
We firmly endorse the idea that each used vehicle possesses its own unique characteristics, and we advocate for a tax assessment process that accurately reflects its authentic value, considering all relevant factors. The seasoned experts at BC Auto Appraisals are here to provide expert guidance, ensuring a seamless and equitable transaction process for you.

Need a Vehicle Appraisal?
It’s worth noting that if your vehicle is in below-average condition, you might be eligible for potential tax savings. Various factors, including excessive mileage, mechanical issues, maintenance requirements, body damage, past accidents, and more, can lead to a reduction in your tax liability when your vehicle undergoes a Professional Vehicle Appraisal by BC Auto Appraisals’ licensed experts.
As you embark on your vehicle purchase journey, our team is here to support you in safeguarding your hard-earned money by steering clear of unnecessary ICBC Vehicle Tax expenditures.
Moreover, in the event that BC Auto Appraisals’ assessed value falls below ICBC’s Average Canadian Black Book valuation, rest assured that you will only be taxed based on the higher of the two values: either BC Auto Appraisals’ assessment or the private Purchase Price of your vehicle. This approach ensures fairness and accuracy in your taxation, reflecting the true worth of your asset while optimizing your financial resources.
