about us
At BC Auto Appraisals, we’re here to make your vehicle purchase in Kelowna more tax-friendly. Starting from October 1st, 2022, there’s an important change for people in British Columbia who are buying used vehicles privately. It’s all about Transfer Tax, and it’s calculated based solely on a number known as the Average Canadian Black Book Wholesale Value, which is determined only by the car’s Year, Make, and Model.
But here’s the thing: this number doesn’t take into account the important stuff like your car’s appearance, how well it runs, how many miles it’s travelled, its maintenance history, whether it’s been in accidents, or any other factors that can make a big difference in your car’s real value. If your car doesn’t quite measure up in any of these areas, don’t worry. Our team of Licensed Appraisal Experts is ready to provide you with a thorough Professional Vehicle Appraisal.
We believe that every used vehicle is unique and should be taxed based on its true value, taking into consideration all the important factors. Our experts at BC Auto Appraisals are here to guide you through the process, ensuring a smooth and fair transaction for you.

Get a Vehicle Appraisal?
Did you know that your vehicle’s less-than-ideal condition might actually save you money on taxes? Factors like high mileage, mechanical issues, maintenance needs, body damage, past accidents, and more can lead to a lower tax bill when your vehicle undergoes a Professional Vehicle Appraisal by our licensed experts at BC Auto Appraisals.
As you navigate your vehicle purchase journey, our team is here to assist you in safeguarding your hard-earned money by helping you avoid unnecessary ICBC Vehicle Tax expenses.
What’s more, if BC Auto Appraisals’ assessment value ends up being lower than ICBC’s Average Canadian Black Book valuation, there’s no need to worry. You’ll only be taxed based on the higher of the two values: either BC Auto Appraisals’ assessment or the private Purchase Price of your vehicle. This ensures a fair and accurate taxation process that reflects your vehicle’s true worth, all while helping you manage your finances wisely.
