Here at BC Auto Appraisals, we care about our communities and know that we pay a premium to live in this beautiful province. Now in effect as of October 1st, 2022, British Columbians privately purchasing Pre-Owned Vehicles are required to pay Transfer Tax on the Average Canadian Black Book Wholesale Value comprised of the Year, Make, and Model.
The value assigned does not include the physical condition, mechanical condition, mileage, required maintenance, accident history and the many additional contributing factors that could affect the value of your vehicle.
If you believe your vehicle is considered below-average for any of these factors, you will benefit from working with our Licensed Appraisal Experts for a Professional Vehicle Appraisal.
Every used vehicle is unique. We believe you should only pay tax on the vehicle’s actual worth—considering ALL factors. Our experts at BC Auto Appraisals can assist with the process for a seamless transaction.

How Do You Know If You Need a Vehicle Appraisal?
Your vehicle may qualify for tax savings due to its below-average condition. Excess kilometres, mechanical issues, required maintenance, body damage, accident history, and other factors can contribute to a lower tax payment with a Professional Vehicle Appraisal. Our licensed professionals at BC Auto Appraisals will consult with you at the time of your vehicle purchase. With our experts, you can save your hard-earned cash from unnecessary expenses due to ICBC Vehicle Tax calculation standards.
In the event that the appraised value assigned by BC Auto Appraisals is less than that assigned by ICBC’s Average Canadian Black Book, you will only pay taxes on BC Auto Appraisals’ assigned value OR the private Purchase Price of your vehicle—whichever is greater.
