about us
At BC Auto Appraisals, we’re here to assist our friends in White Rock in navigating the world of vehicle taxes with confidence. Starting from October 1st, 2022, changes have arrived for British Columbia residents engaged in private transactions for pre-owned vehicles – the introduction of Transfer Tax. This tax is solely calculated based on the Average Canadian Black Book Wholesale Value, determined by the vehicle’s Year, Make, and Model.
But it’s essential to understand that this method doesn’t take into account crucial factors such as your vehicle’s physical condition, mechanical well-being, mileage, maintenance history, accident records, or other elements that substantially influence your vehicle’s real value. If your vehicle doesn’t meet the average criteria in any of these aspects, rest assured that our team of Licensed Appraisal Experts is ready to provide you with a thorough Professional Vehicle Appraisal.
We firmly believe that every used vehicle is unique and deserves a tax assessment that reflects its actual value, considering all the pertinent factors. The seasoned experts at BC Auto Appraisals are here to walk you through the process, ensuring a smooth and equitable transaction for you.

Need Your Vehicle Appraised?
Understanding the impact of your vehicle’s condition on potential tax savings is crucial. Factors like high mileage, mechanical issues, maintenance needs, body damage, past accidents, and more can actually reduce your tax burden when you opt for a Professional Vehicle Appraisal by BC Auto Appraisals’ licensed experts.
As you set out on your journey to purchase a vehicle, our team is here to provide support in safeguarding your hard-earned money by helping you avoid unnecessary ICBC Vehicle Tax expenses.
Here’s the best part: if BC Auto Appraisals’ assessment value turns out to be lower than ICBC’s Average Canadian Black Book valuation, you’ll only be taxed based on the higher of the two values – either BC Auto Appraisals’ assessment or the private Purchase Price of your vehicle. This approach ensures fairness and accuracy in your taxation, reflecting the true worth of your asset while optimizing your financial resources.
